Dietary Intake Assessment Using 24-Hour Dietary Recalls (R24h) Assisted by Photographs: The Importance of the Reference Database for Accuracy
Objectives: Dietary intake assessment is prone to bias, especially in Latin America, where standard databases often lack local foods. This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of photograph-assisted R24h using either a widely used database from the USA with and its accompanying tool featuring predefined portion sizes (ASA24®), or a custom database enriched with local foods and international measurement units (DbF).
