Exploring Gout in the Climacteric Transition: Integrative Insights from Homoeopathy
Gout, a metabolic condition characterized by high levels of uric acid and sudden inflammatory arthritis, has traditionally been viewed as more common in men; however, its occurrence in women significantly rises during the climacteric transition—a phase defined by hormonal changes and metabolic shifts. This review examines the relationship between gout pathophysiology and the hormonal alterations that take place during the perimenopausal and postmenopausal periods. By adopting a comprehensive perspective, the study emphasizes the potential contributions of homoeopathic medicine in tackling not only the symptomatic aspects of gout but also the foundational constitutional imbalances linked to the climacteric stage. Drawing from clinical experiences, materia medica, and repertorial analysis, this paper looks into the significance of personalized homoeopathic treatments in managing gout among this population. The results highlight the necessity of a holistic approach that integrates conventional knowledge with alternative treatment options to improve patient-centered care during this transitional period in a woman's life.
