How vulnerable are The Coastal Tourism Destination of East Java Province, Indonesia, to climate change?

Abstract Twelve of the 19 Provincial Tourism Strategic Areas (KSPP) that have been established in East Java are situated along the coast. However, disasters like tidal floods and abrasion brought on by climate change also pose a threat to the tourism potential of coastal areas. Environmental losses like the deterioration of mangrove forests and physical harm like modifications to the coastal environment can make coastal tourist destinations less appealing. Thus, the purpose of this study is to ascertain how vulnerable East Java’s coastal tourist destinations are to climate change. The research methodology consists of overlay analysis, linear regression and the Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS). The findings indicated that 16 cities and districts are at risk from climate change and have an effect on the physical and environmental conditions of popular coastal destinations.
