Renal Angiomyolipoma with Rupture Causing Perinephric Hematoma
Angiomyolipomas (AMLs) are benign kidney neoplasms that represent a rare subtype of classic AMLs and are characterized by the presence of epithelioid cells. Although generally benign, AMLs can lead to significant morbidity, particularly due to hemorrhage, which is a major cause of death associated with tuberous sclerosis complex. Management of AMLs depends on tumor size, symptoms, and associated complications. AML-related hemorrhage or rupture is a complication that requires immediate intervention to prevent adverse outcomes. We report a case of a renal AML with rupture causing perinephric hematoma.
