Whitefish fishery (Coregonidae) fish species in the Khatanga river basin

A historical retrospective of the development of the fishing resources of the Khatanga River since the 17th century is presented. Until 1936, the fish caught was used for the personal needs of the population. During the Second World War, mass fishing was organized for emergency food supplies to the front and rear. After the end of the war, fishing collective farms began to play a major role in harvesting fish. The system of economic enterprises and organizations engaged in fishing, created in the post-war five years, existed until the end of the 1950s, when state fishing farms began to be created. This system worked right up to the 1970s of the 20th century. From 1942 to 1994, various organizations were engaged in fish production, including the Khatanga fish factory, state farms of the Taimyr Autonomous District and fish harvesters of the Evenki Autonomous District. In the new century, the system of extraction, transportation and processing of fish established in the 20th century, carried out by the Khatanga Fish Factory, was replaced by small fishing organizations. Under the current conditions, the intensity of fishing has significantly decreased. The possibilities of most fish harvesters for the sale of harvested fish are limited. The great distance of the Khatanga basin from the main consumers, the high cost of air transportation lead to a significant increase in the cost of fish products, which significantly complicates their sale outside the basin. At the same time, there are no prerequisites, from the point of view of biology and ecology of fish, for reducing their stocks and numbers. The aquatic populations of grouse, whitefish, and pelage remain unclaimed. It is concluded that the fishing of lake populations will lead to the improvement of the ecosystem and will increase fish catches, will lead to the emergence of new jobs.

A historical retrospective of the development of the fishing resources of the Khatanga River since the 17th century is presented. Until 1936, the fish caught was used for the personal needs of the population. During the Second World War, mass fishing was organized for emergency food supplies to the front and rear.
