Effect of soccer dribbling training drills on hip and shoulder joint angles

This study investigated the effects of a ten-week composite soccer drill training program on hip and shoulder angles during dribbling; a study was conducted with an experimental group (n=10) and a control group (n=10). All the subjects were selected by adopting a purposive random sampling technique. The experimental group underwent ten weeks of training (three sessions per week) involving push-pass, kicking, dribbling, heading, and receiving drills, while the control group received no specific soccer drill training. Performance was captured using two-dimensional (sagittal) high-speed cameras before and after the training period, and hip and shoulder angles at ball contact were analyzed using Motion Analysis software (Tracker 6.0.6). For statistical analysis SPSS software was used to determine descriptive analysis and analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) to detect the mean difference between experimental and control groups in hip angle and shoulder angle of dribbling. The result showed statistically significant change in hip angle and shoulder angle after composite soccer drill training.
