SÍFILIS CONGÊNITA NA ÚLTIMA DÉCADA EM BELÉM-PA: INCIDÊNCIA DE UMA DOENÇA REEMERGENTE
This study aims to analyze the epidemiological data on congenital syphilis in Belém-PA from 2013 to 2023, emphasizing the incidence of confirmed cases considered a reemerging public health problem. This is a descriptive temporal epidemiological study with quantitative analysis, with data extracted from SINAN and SINASC. A total of 2,488 confirmed cases were recorded throughout the period analyzed, with Belém-PA as the reporting municipality. The data showed a variation in the incidence rate between the years analyzed, ranging from 0.69 per thousand live births in 2013 to 20.44 in 2023, with the trend analysis pointing to growth throughout the period. The profile of pregnant women in confirmed cases showed that the general age is 2029 years, followed by 15-19 years, as well as, the education level varies between high school and incomplete elementary school. Most cases were classified as recent congenital syphilis (83.64%), as well as stillbirths/abortions (7.80%). The study showed a significant increase in the incidence rate of congenital syphilis, demonstrating that the disease remains a relevant public health problem in the municipality, and that it contributes to strengthening surveillance, prevention and care actions.
