Black Box for Drones: An Approach to Reliable Flight Data Logging
As Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) become integral to everyday life, ensuring their security must evolve with their widespread adoption. Despite the increasing use of drones, current flight data recording solutions are inadequate for thorough post-incident analysis, hindering investigations into accidents or system failures. This work presents a solution that adapts black box technology from the aviation industry for UAVs, ensuring reliable flight data logging and enhancing recovery efforts. Our proposed system integrates directly with the drone's controller and, through firmware modifications, securely records flight logs. These logs are stored in a protective enclosure designed to preserve data integrity, even after a crash, facilitating efficient post-flight analysis and recovery.
