Building a Real Live Video Streaming System Using Ephemeral Infrastructure

Live streaming of events over the Internet has a strong appeal to the public due to its promptness, authenticity, and elimination of geographical boundaries. In addition, the emergence of social networks is conducive to its dissemination. However, setting up an end-to-end live streaming system is challenging, particularly if the system has to be deployed in an outdoor environment. For example, in a place where permanent networking infrastructure may not be available, or the area is outside the coverage of the cellular network, or the internet connection is relatively slow.In this work, we address these challenges and propose a novel live video streaming system.Focusing on "behind the scenes" technologies, our aim is to create a low-cost, low-energy, and low-latency end-toend Live Video Streaming (LVS) system. The results of the real-time tests are encouraging.
