A prospect of applying UAV remote sensing in off-road navigation
In recent years, the concept of off-road navigation has rendered real-time interaction between traversers and geography indispensable in the absence of road network information. This research employs unmanned aerial vehicle low-altitude remote sensing (UAV-LARS) to extract ground information as raster data and perform area division with hexagons as basic units. It uses traversability as the key indicator to classify basic hexagon units and assign them with values from K1 to K9 According to the performance of traversing vehicles and the skill level of drivers, non-traversable areas can be screened out to generate a basic digital road network. In this research, path planning algorithms prioritizing distance, time, and safety respectively are described. At last, it discusses the application scenarios and future development of UAV-LARS.
