BASHKIR ENCYCLOPAEDICS: THE HISTORY OF THE FORMATION AND THE ROLE OF THE OUTSTANDING SCIENTIST R.Z. SHAKUROV

The article examines the contribution of the outstanding scientist R.Z. Shakurov (1937-2024) to the formation of national encyclopedistics in Bashkortostan in the 1990s. In 1991, R.Z. Shakurov led a group of scientists to create the Bashkir encyclopedia, developed the concept and dictionary, prepared and published the first short encyclopedia «Bashkortostan» among the autonomous republics, in Russian (1996) and Bashkir (1997) languages and was director and chief editor of the Scientific Publishing House «Bashkir Encyclopedia» (1995-1998).
