Design and field measurement of dipole magnets for PREF
Abstract Proton Radiation Effects Facility (PREF) is a new national research infrastructure under construction at Xinjiang Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry in China. The facility consists of an ECRIS (Electron Cyclotron Resonance Ion Source), a linac injector, a compact synchrotron, and two experiment terminals. The synchrotron dipoles are essential components of the accelerator. The synchrotron dipole with a bending angle of 90 degree, and a deflection radius of 0.95 m is proposed to meet the need of compact accelerator. They will provide the field quality from the injection field of 0.2 T up to the maximum value of 1.2 T, with the maximum ramping rate of 3 T/s. The field simulation results and measurement results of the dipole are presented and discussed in detail.
