Patient-generated health DATA as a risk stratification tool: Real-world multidisciplinary care study from a developing-country private clinic.
e23342 Background: Oncological care development usually results in significantly increased costs, causing difficult incorporation by low-income and/or under development countries. Multidisciplinary attention is important, though costly. Therefore, finding cost optimization strategies by recognizing individuals at greatest clinical risk and prioritizing multidisciplinary care is crucial to allow adequate comprehensive treatment in this setting. The aim of this study is to analyze adherence and applicability of self-reported questionnaires to nutritional and psychological risk stratification in Brazilian cancer patients. Methods: Observational Retrospective Cohort Study involved 518 patients diagnosed with cancer between March and December 2024, treated at a Brazilian private oncology health service, and were invited to answer self-reported questionnaires during their first infusion treatment session. Validated Portuguese versions of Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (ASG-PPP) and of Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) were used in this study. Each questionnaire sum points of patients’ individual answers to deliver a final score to be classified in pre-specified groups: low, moderate or high-risk. Final scores were evaluated by a multidisciplinary team for adequate screening and follow-up periodicity definition. High adherence of patients in answering the questionnaires was considered a rate greater than 80%. Descriptive analysis of the study population was performed by determining measures of central tendency and dispersion for continuous variables and frequency distribution for categorical variables. Epidemiological data was obtained from medical charts. Results: Patients were mostly female - 73,4% - and elderly – 56,3% over 60 years old. Breast cancer was the most prevalent primary tumor location – 33,2% - followed by colorectal and lung cancer – 15,6% and 9,3% respectively. 35,8% of patients were already diagnosed with stage IV disease. ASG-PPP was completely answered by 85,9% of patients, with 18,4% of those identified as moderate risk and 13,3% as high-risk patients. HADS was completely answered by 84,94% of patients, with 13% of those identified as moderate risk and 3,6% as high-risk patients. Conclusions: High adherence in completing both ASG-PPP and HADS questionnaires was observed. Our study demonstrated that patients presented higher nutritional than psychological risk. Self-reported questionnaires proved to be viable and inexpensive tools for biopsychosocial risk stratification and allowed optimized and integrated individualization of multidisciplinary oncological care for the patients.
