The AODV Routing Protocol Based on Probabilistic Flooding and Multi-constraint Fusion Strategy

During the route discovery stage of the network routing protocol in mobile ad hoc networks, the route request packets (RREQ) are flooded for discovering routes, which is easy to lead to broadcast storms. Besides, the mobility of nodes leads to network topology change, which makes route breaks become frequent. In view of the issues above, this paper puts forward an AODV routing protocol named FPMC-AODV, which is based on probability flooding and multi-constraint fusion strategy. FPMC-AODV uses probability flooding strategy to discover routes. In this strategy, the relay nodes will calculate forwarding probability of Route Request (RREQ) based on the number of neighbors. The routing path is selected by multi-constraint fusion strategy. In this strategy, the mobility cost value is calculated by mobile information and location information, the congestion cost value is calculated through network layer cache, and the path cost value combines the mobility cost value and congestion cost value. Routing paths are selected by the hop count when they are outside the hop count difference threshold range. And based on the path cost value when they are within the range. Simulation results of Exata 5.4 show that compared with AODV, FPMC-AODV has enhanced packet delivery ratio, reduced the average end-to-end delay and normalized routing overhead.
