Static Analysis in the Planning of Adding Ocean Current Power Plant to the Nusa Penida Electrical System
The demand for electricity in Indonesia will continue to increase even until 2020, including Nusa Penida. Nusa Penida currently uses diesel power plants as one of its leading suppliers. However, the Bali government is targeting the use of renewable energy in Nusa Penida by 2025. Additional renewable energy-based power plants are needed to reduce the use of diesel power plants. The potential that can be utilized is the ocean current power plant in the Toyapakeh Strait. Then, with the addition of the ocean current power plant, an analysis of the Nusa Penida electrical system is needed. The load flow simulation results show that the number of diesel power plants decreases with the addition of ocean current power plants. The load flow simulation occurs under both peak load and off-peak load conditions. In addition, the short circuit analysis also shows that there are no current values exceeding the established standards. That means the electrical system is safe and will not damage the components.
