A Double Frequency Commutation Mechanical DC Circuit Breaker

In this paper, a double frequency commutation mechanical DC circuit breaker (DFC-MDCCB) was proposed. The working principle of DFC-MDCCB was analyzed and the simulation of interrupting process was conducted. The simulation results show that two sets of capacitors and inductors in commutation branch can oscillate to generate multi frequency superimposed current which can extend the commutation time and decrease the overall rise rate of TIV.

Abstract

In this paper, a double frequency commutation mechanical DC circuit breaker (DFC-MDCCB) was proposed. The working principle of DFC-MDCCB was analyzed and the simulation of interrupting process was conducted. The simulation results show that two sets of capacitors and inductors in commutation branch can oscillate to generate multi frequency superimposed current which can extend the commutation time and decrease the overall rise rate of TIV.
