Unmanned aerial vehicle assisted resource management for defense services
Effective resource management is crucial for defense services to ensure optimal allocation and utilization of resources in various operational scenarios. However, it is a computationally complex (NP-hard) and challenging problem, especially for the defense service, due to its criticality. This study proposes a resource management approach, leveraging the capabilities of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to enhance the resource allocation efficiency at the war zone. Jaccard and overlap coefficients are used to design four heuristic algorithms for efficient resource management using UAVs. The algorithms aim to minimize total service time and the number of flights and maximize the utilization of deployed UAVs to carry the required resources to the battlefield. Extensive simulation is conducted in various situations to analyze and validate the claims of the designed algorithms. By leveraging heuristic modeling, this approach addresses the challenges of resource allocation, task assignment, and mission planning in dynamic defense environments. The research findings contribute to the growing field of UAV-assisted defense services and offer practical insights for optimizing resource utilization and enhancing operational effectiveness. It has significant implications for developing more efficient and effective resource management strategies in defense services, and the findings can also be applied to a wide range of similar operational scenarios.
