A comparative study of some biomechanical variables and long-range jump shooting accuracy between private and public college basketball players

The aim of this study is to compare some biomechanical variables and long-range jump shooting accuracy in basketball between players from the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Bilad Alfredian University which is a private and the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Diyala which is public college. The importance of this research lies in the shortage of studies linking kinematic variables to the performance of university athletes, particularly in the context of training differences between educational institutions. The sample of the study consisted of 20 players (10 from the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Bilad Alfredian University and 10 from the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Diyala). High-quality cameras were utilized to analyze biomechanical variables such as wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joint angles, ball release angle, and landing distance. SPSS and Pearson’s correlation coefficient were used for statistical analysis. The outcomes showed that players from the University of Diyala (public) outperformed those from Bilad Alfredian University (private) in some variables, such as wrist angle, elbow angle, and ball release angle. The researcher suggested further investigation into factors contributing to this superiority like technical training hours, use of assistive technology, or training methodology.
