Cosine-Gaussian correlated Schell-model pulsed beams scattered by a semi-hard boundary medium

This paper extended the scope of pulsed beam scattering theory, such that the scattering of cosine-Gaussian correlated Schell-model (CGSM) pulsed beams through a semi-hard boundary medium was explored. Applying the scattering theory of pulsed light fields and the first-order Born approximation, analytical expressions for the mutual coherence function, the pulsed intensity, and the temporal coherence degree of the far field after scattering were derived and used to investigate the targeted pulsed beam's scattering properties. Numerical simulation results demonstrated that both the pulsed intensity and temporal coherence degree distribution can be effectively regulated by selecting different parameters for the incident pulsed beam and the scattering medium. The pulsed intensity can form a Gaussian or a peak pulse distribution, while the temporal coherence degree can exhibit specific decay and oscillatory behaviors. The interesting findings presented in this paper have potential applications in the fields of laser radar, non-destructive testing, biomedicine, and laser communication.
