The role of self-rated sexual functioning in general life satisfaction of generation X, Y, Z. Does pornography use matter?
Sexual health and sexual functioning play a significant role in the life satisfaction of adults throughout the lifespan; therefore, we aimed to explore the predictive role of sexual functioning and problematic pornography use on life satisfaction in three cohorts, considering generational identity (Gen X, Gen Y, Gen Z). 4182 eligible individuals were included in the study (321 Gen X, 1191 Gen Y, 2670 Gen Z participants). A cross-sectional correlational design was used. The sexual functioning dimension has a much smaller effect on life satisfaction than we would have expected based on literature. Orgasm achievement is the most important sexual function predicting life satisfaction in every generation. Problematic pornography use has a small significant negative role on life satisfaction in Gen Y and Gen Z.
