Student experiences and factors that can contribute to facilitating a successful transition to high school: A systematic literature review
This systematic literature review aims to identify the experiences of students during the transition from middle school to high school, and the factors that may facilitate this transition. Findings reveal that during such transition students face rather distruptive experiences for their further educational path, but also go through a series of challenges that are beneficial for their development. Teachers running pre-transition support programs, and post-transtion induction programs can have an impact on students' engagement in learning; parents offering emotional support to reduce negative behaviors and increase students' motivation, and peers who can become mentors for vulnerable students are possible facilitaors of transition.
