A EFICÁCIA DO MINISTÉRIO PÚBLICO DE RONDÔNIA NA APLICAÇÃO DA LEI Nº 9.605/98 EM 2024

This article aims to evaluate the performance of the Public Ministry of Rondônia (MPRO) in the application of Law nº 9.605/98, which deals with environmental crimes, in the year 2024. The research analyzes the effectiveness of the MPRO’s preventive and punitive actions, considering the institutional and regional challenges faced in combating illegal burning and deforestation in the state. The methodology included documentary analysis of recommendations, resolutions, and technical notes issued by the MPRO, as well as interviews with prosecutors and environmental experts. The results indicate that, despite the efforts of the MPRO, the application of the law still faces significant obstacles, such as insufficient resources and difficulties in monitoring remote areas. It is concluded that it is necessary to strengthen institutional capacity and promote greater integration between inspection agencies and civil society to ensure the effectiveness of environmental legislation.
