A selective “off–on” rhodamine-based chemosensor for the detection of Cu 2+ ions: colorimetric, theoretical and biological study

A rhodamine based chemosensor that exhibited the selective detection of Cu 2+ ions using colourimetric study and corroborated by quantum chemical calculations. The cell viability and cell cytotoxicity toward ACHN and HEK-293 cell lines was determined.
