Evaluation of the effectiveness of the drug cytoflavin to improve adaptation to physical activity in athletes with minor cardiac anomalies

Abjective. To establish the effectiveness of the use of cytoflavin drug to improve adaptation of the cardiovascular system of basketball players with minor cardiac abnormalities to sports exertions. Materials and methods. The study included 24 basketball players with minor cardiac abnormalities. The course of cytoflavin administration at the end of the run-in period was performed to 12 basketball players. At the beginning and end of the year, 24-hour Holter monitoring was carried out as part of the medical check-up. Signs of cardiac overstrain were determined on the basis of detection of clinically significant ventricular and supraventricular extrasystoles. Content of the myocardial antigen, cortisol and testosterone, total and effective albumin, oxidized lipoproteins were investigated in the blood serum. Anabolic index, toxicity index, prevention effectiveness coefficient were calculated. Results. Minor cardiac abnormalities have been revealed in 45.3% of basketball players. It has been established that the effectiveness of cytoflavin pharmaceutical agent for reduction of the oxLDL oxidative stress marker amounted to 83.3%, for increase of the functional activity of albumin system in the blood serum — 42%, for prevention of the metabolic disorders with predominance of catabolic processes — 80%; for prevention of the cardiac overstrain on myocardial antigen — 55.6%, for reduction of the clinically significant ventricular and supraventricular extrasystoles — 62.5%. Conclusions. Cytoflavin drug has the most pronounced potential for use in athletes to normalize the ratio of catabolic and anabolic processes and reduce the oxidative stress. During the course administration of cytoflavin, there is an increase in the adaptation of the cardiovascular system of athletes with minor cardiac abnormalities to training and competition loads.
