54 10-year outcomes of arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement with concomitant lateral rim dysplasia. A case-control matched Study
Purpose To determine the long term (minimum 10-year) outcomes of hip arthroscopy (HA) for femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) in the presence of concomitant lateral rim dysplasia. Methods Prospectively collected data from patients undergoing HA between September 2008 to May 2013 was reviewed.Patients with lateral rim dysplasia defined by a lateral centre-edge angle, (LCEA <25 o ) were matched in a 1:2 ratio to patients with a LCEA >25 o , based on gender, Tonnis grade and age.The primary outcome was survival (avoidance of total hip replacement [THR]), assessed using a Kaplan Meier curve with Log ranks test.Rates of repeat-HA were compared between groups using a Chi squared analysis.Patient-reported outcomes (PROs; modified Harris hip score, UCLA, SF36 and WOMAC) were collected preoperatively and at 10 years.Between-and within-group differences at both time points was assessed using Mann Whitney U and Wilcoxon signed rank tests respectively. The patient acceptable symptom state (PASS) was determined using an anchor question. The proportion of cases achieving PASS was compared between groups.
