MURRAYA KOENIGII ROOT EXTRACT-MEDIATED GREEN SYNTHESIS OF TRANSITION METAL NANO STRUCTURES AND THEIR FUTURE STUDIES IN SEWAGE EFFLUENT TREATMENT

This study demonstrates the eco-friendly and cost-effective bio-inspired production of silver and copper NPs using Murraya koenigii root extract as a reducing and capping agent. We investigated the potential of Murraya koenigii roots to synthesize nanoparticles from AgNO3 solution and copper(II)sulfate(CuSO4) solution. The root extract(10g/100ml)was boiled for 25 minutes, filtered, and then mixed with AgNO3 and CuSO4 solutions (1:1 ratio) to initiate the reduction reaction. The reaction progress was monitored through color change. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized using Ultraviolet-Visible spectroscopy(UV),Fourier Transform Infra-Red spectroscopy(FTIR), and Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM) to confirm their formation, plasmonic resonance, functional groups, and morphology. Our findings highlight the efficiency of Murraya koenigii root-mediated green synthesis for producing silver and copper nanoparticles with potential applications. The future study will synthesize and characterize CuO and Ag2O nanoparticles for the removal of heavy metals from Sewage effluent. Adsorption properties will be investigated for Pb,Hg,Cu, and Cd removal. Expected outcomes include enhanced adsorption capacities, selectivity, and kinetics.
