The Use of Digital Signals with Phase Insertions in Telecommunication Networks

A new modification of the phase shift keying method is proposed. In this method the signal consists of a carrier part and an information part, which is represented by phase insertions. At the end of each insertion a phase shift is forced to return to the phase of a reference signal. Unlike previous studies, it is proposed to use a phase jump at ±π/2, which makes it easy to encode the transmission code position "1" or "0" of a digital bit stream. This paper analyzes the reasons for the broadband nature of digital signals. Using a specific example of beat signal, it is clearly shown that the Fourier spectrum is a consequence of the interaction of signals with frequency selective devices, and this spectrum does not appear during interaction with devices that do not have frequency selectivity. Within the framework of these ideas, the authors suggested that with proper coupling of the signal with frequency-selective devices, it is possible to avoid the influence of the relaxation properties of frequency-selective devices and thus split the information capacity of the communication channel and the width of the Fourier spectrum occupied by the channel. Based on this concept, the authors synthesized a signal in the form of a harmonic carrier with phase inserts. Thus, each position of such a signal consists of a relatively long-term reference part and a short-term phase disturbance with a mandatory return to phase.
