Los conventos franciscanos y su relación con la estructura urbana, la red de ciudades y la jerarquización del poblamiento en la Castilla de los siglos XIII al XV

This paper analyzes the evolution of the Franciscan settlements and the possible establishment of hierarchical relationships that are consistent with the cities of the Crown of Castile during the late Middle Ages. We will focus on the different stages that articulate the settlement in the Castilian territories of the Franciscan convents. Also, we define what a hierarchical system is and how the links between the various parts of the system can be established. We will study the difficulties to define the different nodes of the system and the historiographical deficiencies in the Hispanic medieval urban analysis. The aim is to make an analysis of the periods and dynamics of settlement ranging from the initial speed and abundance in the northern sub-plateau in the 13th century, with a smaller presence south of the Central System, the pause of the 14th century and even the reforms, urban and rural, that run through the 15th century, which facilitates the devotional evaluations that condition the conventual hierarchical system.
