CORELATION OF EXCESS AIR RATIO IN METALLURGICAL FURNACES AND GREENHOUSE GASES EMISSION

The subject of this article is an analysis of the influence of excess air value on the liquid fuel combustion during steel heating process and the GHG emision. Combustion conditions for three different chemical compositions and heating values of liquid fuels are defined by changes in values of excess air ratio (λ = 1.02- 1.22). GHG emission is defined as the sum of CO2 and NOx. For all analyzed liquid fuels, the correlation of coefficient l, flame temperature, volume of combustion products and GHG emissions was calculated. The results were obtained using analytical method. On the basis of obtained results it can be concluded that the heating value of the fuel is directly proportional to the increase in the flame temperature. Besides, the flame temperature decrease with increasing values of air excess ratio and as a results of this, emission of NOx decreases. This can be explained by statement that at higher combustion temperature, volume of thermal NOx increase. Keywords: flame temperature, combustion, excess air ratio, GHG emission
