Recovery and resilience: strategies to support athletes in injury rehabilitation and psychological adaptation to sports challenges
Injuries are an inherent risk in athletic participation, often impacting not only physical performance but also an athlete’s psychological well-being and identity. While physical rehabilitation is vital, recent research emphasizes the importance of addressing mental health and fostering resilience throughout the recovery process. This article explores integrative recovery strategies that combine evidence-based physical rehabilitation with psychological interventions such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and structured social support. By examining the dynamic relationship between physical healing and mental resilience, the study underscores the value of interdisciplinary approaches in promoting effective recovery and sustaining long-term athletic performance. The findings advocate for embedding resilience training within injury management protocols to enhance outcomes and protect athletes’ holistic well-being.
