Study of the characterization of nails using electrical bioimpedance

Abstract Human nail health serves as an indicator of overall well-being and can aid in diagnosing various pathologies. This study is conducted to assess the feasibility of using electrical bioimpedance as an adjunct diagnostic tool in podiatry for assessing nail health and monitoring treatment progress in nail diseases. A total of ten healthy patients were evaluated, with two electrodes placed on the nail of the first toe on both feet. Impedance measurements were conducted using the EVAL-AD5933 evaluation board. The findings suggest that nail electrical impedance varies according to health status and the presence of pathological conditions. These results highlight the potential of bioimpedance analysis as a non-invasive method for assessing nail health, warranting further research to validate its clinical applications.
