High Misalignment Tolerance Wireless Power Transfer System for Mining Unmanned Vehicle with a Low Cost Semicylinder Magnetic Coupler
Wireless charging system for mining unmanned vehicle (MUV) requires simplified structure and low cost in the complex and dangerous environment of coal exploitation. To address this issue, this paper proposes a low cost semicylinder magnetic coupler, which the receiving coil is semicylinder in place of the traditional solenoid coil. The cost of magnetic coupler is impressively reduced. The transmitting coil is planar square coil. To further verify the performance of magnetic coupler, the finite element analysis is used to optimize the parameters of semicylinder. A 150W experimental protype is built. Comparing with the traditional solenoid coil, the cost of semicylinder is impressive. The peak value of power transmission is 86.63%. With the tilt angle varies from the 0deg to 360deg, the power transmission efficiency is within 1.2%. At the extreme condition misalignment, the output power there still remains 86.2W. It verifies the semicylinder has excellent performance of cost reeducation and anti misalignment.
