A Differential Rectenna With Improved Power Utilization for Simultaneous Wireless Information and Power Transfer
This letter presents an innovative differential rectenna with improved power utilization for simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT). Firstly, to accommodate the significant disparity in power levels between rectifying circuits and communication receivers, a differential unequal power divider is developed with large power division ratio. Meanwhile, to enhance rectification and communication performance, both harmonic suppression capabilities and filtering characteristics are incorporated into the respective port of the power divider. In this context, by integrating the proposed power divider with a dipole structure, differential wireless communication and differential rectification are realized simultaneously. Besides, a differentially fed rectifier is implemented to attain a peak efficiency of 68%. When combined with the harmonic suppression rectification port, the rectifier's peak efficiency increases to 72%. Ultimately, within an indoor Wi-Fi environment, the rectenna successfully converts the received 2.4 G Wi-Fi signal into the direct current (DC) voltage and the data information was simultaneously detected from the communication port.
