Hydrophobicity and electronegativity multiple enhanced stretchable triboelectric nanogenerator for droplet energy harvesting

Solid-liquid based triboelectric nanogenerator (SL-TENG) can be widely utilized for droplet energy harvesting. However, the application of SL-TENG is severely limited by the poor electrical and mechanical properties of triboelectric layers produced by classical methods. Here, a hydrophobicity and electronegativity multiple enhanced triboelectric nanogenerator (HE-TENG) with excellent electrical and mechanical properties was devised by strongly bonding PTFE microparticles on the stretchable substrate even under extreme conditions. The PTFE particles synergistically enhanced transferred charge and contact-separate efficiency between the droplet and the triboelectric layer, significantly improving the output. In addition, the HE-TENG showed less reduction in performance even under high stretching or extreme abrasion. With the above outstanding performance and adaptability, the SH-TENG could be integrated with various objects to collect droplet energy and supply electronic devices.
