Morphometric analysis of watersheds and interdisciplinary education: applications of the study of the Marrecas River watershed in the teaching of geography, science, mathematics, and inclusive education
This study presents the morphometric analysis of the Ribeirão das Marrecas Watershed, a tributary of the left margin of the Tibagi River, in the state of Paraná. The investigation aimed to understand the morphological behavior of the basin through morphometric, structural, and environmental parameters. Hypsometric and clinographic maps were developed based on data from the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM), processed in a Geographic Information System (GIS) environment using ArcView software. The Digital Terrain Models (DTMs) enabled the calculation of variables such as drainage density, compactness coefficient, form ratio, and circularity index. The results indicate an elongated basin with a good capacity for surface runoff, influenced by moderate slopes and resistant lithology. In addition to its technical relevance, the data were integrated into an interdisciplinary pedagogical proposal aimed at their application in the teaching of Geography, Science, and Mathematics. The inclusion of assistive technologies, such as tactile maps and screen-reading software, reinforces the perspective of accessible and inclusive geographic education. Thus, morphometry proves to be a powerful tool both for environmental analysis and for educational practices focused on critical, territorialized, and equitable learning.
