AUTHORIAL INTENTIONS IN GONZO JOURNALISTIC MATERIALS
This paper characterizes the specific, unique, and subjective features of the gonzo journalism style, created by American writer and journalist Hunter S. Thompson.Based on content and intent analysis of gonzo journalistic materials and scholarly articles, it is demonstrated that the phenomenon of gonzo journalism, which originated in the United States in 1970, has in Ukraine absorbed the key stylistic features of Hunter Thompson's works. The themes and content of Ukrainian gonzo journalism are grounded in true stories, as well as in socio-political and national-cultural principles aimed at defending the homeland from external and internal enemies, exposing corruption, abuses of power, anti-Ukrainian ideology, manipulative political narratives, and information-psychological propaganda. The study explores authorial referential, modal, and communicative intentions, describes various manifestations of journalistic intention, and outlines the specifics of verbal and audiovisual gonzo communication. It is determined that the conceptual intention of Ukrainian gonzo journalism incorporates personal, national, and universal moral and spiritual values, which, amid globalization processes and Russian aggression, play a significant socio-educational role in Ukraine's information space.
