Enhanced response caused by mean field density and noise in globally coupled bistable oscillators
Abstract Various coupling forms that can enhance system response have been widely studied. However, mean field density, which controls the interaction degree between oscillators, has received less attention. The role of noise in coupled oscillators is also frequently overlooked. Motivated by enhancing coupled system response to detect and amplify weak signals, this paper introduces mean field density and noise into a set of globally coupled bistable oscillators. We analyze how these factors collectively influence response enhancement. The results demonstrate that weak signals are effectively amplified at an optimal mean field density, and noise can further stimulate system response. Additional numerical results reveal that the synergy between mean field density and noise intensity significantly enhances the response, aligning with theoretical analysis. By demonstrating that optimal mean field density strengthens noise-driven coupled system response, this research may offer a novel strategy for amplifying weak signals in applications prone to random disturbances.
