Revision of the Pygmy Cricket genus Homonemobius Chopard, 1935, with description of a new species using integrative taxonomy (Orthoptera: Trigonidiidae; Nemobiinae)

In this study, a systematic revision of the species of the genus Homonemobius in China was carried out using an integrative taxonomic approach, including the accounts of four known species and one new species, H. brevititilana sp. nov. The genus can be characterized by small body, similar vein structures between sexes, absence of stridulatory veins and lack of tympanum on the anterior tibiae. The new species, H. brevititilana sp. nov., can be distinguished from its congeners by four yellow stripes on the occiput, yellow spots on the pronotum and abdomen, and five regular longitudinal veins in the forewings. A key to Chinese species was established based on morphological characteristics. Phylogenetic reconstruction using COI sequences resolved the evolutionary relationships among Homonemobius species, with the new species forming a well-supported clade with H. curifolis.

Abstract

Phylogenetic reconstruction using COI sequences resolved the evolutionary relationships among Homonemobius species, with the new species forming a well-supported clade with H. curifolis.
