Study on resistance to soil cutting and wear of plowshare based on DEM
In order to reduce the wear of the plowshare, analyze its cutting resistance during operation, and then extend its service life, a discrete element simulation model of the plowshare-soil, including the intrinsic parameter, contact parameter, and bonding bond parameter. The parameters selected for simulation were aligned to the rest angle test and straight shear test, the results showed that the relative error between the average value of the stacking angle test and the actual value was 7.6%, and the simulated curve of the straight shear test was basically the same as that obtained from the actual curve; and the relative error between the maximum shear stress of the simulation and that of the actual was 7%, which verified the feasibility of the model. The simulation tests were conducted under different plowing speeds (3 m/s, 4 m/s, 5m/s, 6 m/s) and different plowing depths (40 mm, 50 mm, 60 mm, and 70 mm) to analyze the total abrasion and cutting resistance of the plowshare. The test results show that the total wear and cutting resistance of the plowshare increase with the increase in plowing speed and depth; under the same conditions, the plowing depth of the plowshare has a more significant effect on the overall effect of the plowshare.
