Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Diverse Strategies to Alleviate Burnout and Optimize Workload Management for Nursing Personnel to Enhance Performance: A Structured Literature Review

Introduction Nursing serves as a fundamental element of the healthcare system, distinguished by its commitment to the welfare of patients.Nonetheless, the rigorous demands of the nursing profession frequently disrupt the equilibrium between work and personal life.Additionally, burnout has significantly contributed to the decline of the nursing workforce, a trend that was already escalating prior to the Covid-19 pandemic but has accelerated since then.Nursing personnel have been forced to work in highrisk conditions marked by excessive workloads and insufficient resources, making them one of the most severely impacted groups in healthcare environments. This commentary examines the possible effects of artificial intelligence (AI) on the public healthcare sector, particularly regarding its potential to enhance the work-life balance of nursing personnel. Methods The research conducted an extensive search within the Scopus and Web of Science databases, following PRISMA guidelines, resulting in the identification of 31 articles that met the inclusion criteria. The qualitative analysis reveals that artificial intelligence is utilized across multiple fields, such as emotional support, mental health monitoring, personalized wellbeing, identification of psychosocial risk factors, training and development. Results Integrative use of AIs with significant training, extensive personalization, and higher levels of positive feedback is positively correlated to lower burnout and stress levels. We found that simply using AI technologies is not enough to combat burnout.Rather, a comprehensive approach -one that features extensive training of employees, custom-tailored personalization and real-time feedback-is essential to leverage the complete capabilities of artificial intelligence in order to alleviate stress within the healthcare facilities. Conclusions Combating workplace burnout: The importance of resilience strategies along with AI in healthcare organizations They must also be dedicated to enhancing support systems, optimizing staffing or reducing nursing workloads, and confront issues such as bullying, all important for the physical and mental health or the general well-being of their nursing workforce.
