Ornithosuchidae – saber-toothed archosaurs?

Among the early archosaurs of the Triassic, various ecological types were represented - from predators to herbivores, from terrestrial to semi-aquatic forms. A special place among them was occupied by ornithosuchids, regarding the lifestyle and trophic adaptations of which various hypotheses were put forward. Judging by the unique morphology of their jaw apparatus and postcranial skeleton, ornithosuchids were specialized macrophagous predators, hunters of large prey. At the same time, it is necessary to note the analogies between ornithosuchids and saber-toothed therapsids and mammals.
