PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease): non solo malattie a trasmissione sessuale
Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is an infection of the female reproductive organs, primarily caused by sexually transmitted infections (STIs) such as Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. While PID is more commonly treated in sexually active adolescents and adults, it may also occur in paediatric populations, although it is less frequent. When PID is diagnosed in paediatric patients, it generally occurs under certain conditions. Awareness among healthcare providers and parents is crucial for early recognition and management. If PID is suspected, appropriate medical evaluation and intervention are vital to minimize long-term reproductive health issues.
