Extended distribution of Lycianthes biflora (Lour.) Bitter (Solanaceae) in Eastern Ghats, India

Lycianthes biflora (Lour.) Bitter, hitherto known only from northeastern India, is now reported for the first time from the Eastern Ghats based on a collection from the Similipal Biosphere Reserve of Odisha. The present report confirms the extension range of this species further to the Eastern Ghats from the northeastern region of the country. A detailed morphological description, ecology, phenology, distribution map, field and dissected floral parts, and transverse section of immature fruit photographs are provided for its easy identification.
