Non-Photorealistic Halftoning by Inverse Box Filter
We propose a method for non-photorealistic halftoning by using an inverse box filter, that restores box blur in an iterative manner. The inverse box filter is a sort of sharpening filter, the characteristic of which is applicable to non-photorealistic halftoning. Experimental results show that the proposed method generates non-photorealistic halftone patterns on resultant images, where different halftone patterns can be derived from different patterns and sizes of filter kernel. We also present a memory-efficient method for implementing the proposed inverse box filter, and demonstrate the effectiveness of the method compared with the original one.
