Application and Effectiveness of Metaverse Technology in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language Writing

Teaching Chinese as a Second Language Writing in international Chinese education faces challenges like insufficient student interest, low engagement, and poor organizational structure.Metaverse technology, with its virtual-real interaction, boundless spacetime, precise customization, embodied learning, and instant feedback, offers a new avenue to improve teaching effectiveness. While existing studies have explored its use in online platform development, educational value theory, and learning mechanism analysis, research on its specific application and effectiveness in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language Writing remains scarce. This study employed an experimental control group design with 40 intermediate-level learners divided into experimental and control groups.Pre-and post-intervention standardized tests evaluated writing proficiency across content richness, organizational structure, language expression, and creativity, supplemented by in-depth interviews for subjective feedback. Results revealed that the experimental group's writing improvement significantly outperformed the control group, demonstrating metaverse technology's strengths in enhancing teaching outcomes, sparking interest, and boosting engagement.Students reported that metaverse-based instruction increased enjoyment and challenge, aiding deeper theme comprehension. The study confirms that metaverse technology, through immersive experiences, instant feedback, and personalized guidance, markedly enhances writing skills and learning experiences, providing an effective tool for Teaching Chinese as a Second Language Writing.
