A decade of change: Increasing “weekend warrior” behavior and physical activity trends among middle-aged and older adults in China (2011−2020)
Between 2011 and 2020, adherence to physical activity guidelines among middle-aged and older Chinese adults increased slightly, concurrently, the proportion of "weekend warriors" rose significantly. This trend suggests that concentrating physical activity on 1-2 days of the week may be gaining popularity. Future research should focus on this subgroup to assess the long-term health benefits and potential risks associated with such activity patterns.
