Coating Thickness Measurement and Modeling of Gravure Coating
Coating is a key process for uniformly applying coating liquid onto substrates, with broad applications in papermaking, information materials, and plastic film processing. Accurate control of coating thickness is crucial for product quality, but traditional coating thickness measurement methods typically measure thickness only after coating, making it difficult to predict the thickness in advance. This paper reviews the current mainstream non-contact coating thickness measurement technologies and proposes a dimensionless parameter-based coating liquid transfer rate model for predicting coating thickness during the coating process. By analyzing the equipment and material parameters affecting coating thickness, and combining experimental data, a coating thickness prediction model is established and experimentally validated. The results show that the proposed model can effectively improve the prediction accuracy of coating thickness and has high practical value.
