Transforming Indonesian Workplaces: Exploring the Interplay of AI Experience, AI-Based Engagement, and Employee Well-Being

This study examines the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Experience on employee engagement and well-being, exploring how AI engagement mediates this relationship in Indonesian workplaces. A cross-sectional survey was conducted with 479 employees in Greater Jakarta, utilizing Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to analyze the relationships between AI Experience, AI Engagement, and AI Well-Being. The results indicate that AI Experience significantly enhances AI Engagement and AI Well-Being. Additionally, AI Engagement positively influences AI Well-Being, and acts as a mediator between AI Experience and AI Well-Being. This study fills a gap in existing research by exploring AI engagement as a mediating factor between AI experience and employee well-being, providing insights into how positive interactions with AI technologies can enhance workplace outcomes. Organizations should focus on creating intuitive AI systems and provide comprehensive training to enhance AI engagement, which can improve employee well-being. The findings suggest that AI adoption should prioritize employee engagement to maximize both productivity and mental well-being. Future research could explore cross-cultural variations and the long-term impact of AI on work environments.
