Robust VOC of a Three-Phase SAPF Incorporating BPMVF and PV System to Enhance Power Quality
The increase in nonlinear loads significantly degrades power quality, leading to the pollution of the interconnection network due to the generation of harmonics and reactive power, reducing efficiency, particularly the power factor. In three-phase installations, this can lead to imbalances by causing excessive neutral currents. This study focuses on robust voltage-oriented control (VOC) operation for a shunt active power filter (SAPF). The main benefit of this technique is to ensure decoupled control of active and reactive input currents, as well as the input reference voltage. A robust PI regulator with anti-windup is integrated to maintain the DC-bus voltage and ensure active power control. Moreover, a robust phase-locked loop (PLL), based on a bandpass multivariable filter (BPMVF), is employed to improve the quality of the source voltage. In addition, the photovoltaic (PV) system is implemented to maintain the DC voltage constant, ensuring a stable energy flow to the source and the connected loads. Fewer harmonics, a unitary power factor, and a sinusoidal current are obtained. The IEEE 519-1992 standard has been met by reducing the harmonic distortion from 27.98% to 1.04%. High performance has been demonstrated by simulation under both transient and steady-state.
