The electronic properties in Ruddlesden-Popper Perovskites quantum wells
Ruddlesden-Popper Perovskites (RPPs), with the formula (MA)<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">n−1</inf>(BA)<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf>Pb<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">n</inf>I<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3n+1</inf>, are known as self-organized quantum wells and they are considered as promising materials for numerous applications. We have investigated the energy levels of a conduction band electron in the well region of RPPs series n = 2−4 . To obtain the eigenvalues and the corresponding eigenfunctions, we solved numerically the Schrödinger equation in the framework of the effective mass approximation. We have examined the effects of the well length, effective mass mismatch, and confinement potential on the distribution of the electron energy levels. It was found that the energy levels are sensitive to all these parameters especially the changes in well length and confinement potential, which is in accordance with previous works.
